Herbert C. Becker Jr., MD attended University of Washington in Seattle, Washington from 1986 - 1990. He received his Bachelor of Arts in 1985, from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma Washington. His Postgraduate training included an internship at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, Washington.

Dr. Becker completed his Ophthalmology residency at Eastern Virginia Medial School in Norfolk, Virginia from 1993 - 1996. He completed his Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship in 1999 at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Dr. Becker completed his Retina Fellowship at the University of Illinois, Chicago in 2002.
